We are thrilled to share that our friends over at Pok Pok have won an Apple Design Award for Pok Pok Playroom!
Exactly one month ago, we introduced Pok Pok to the world: a creative studio centred around play-based learning experiences for kids. It started a few years back, as the passion project of parents Esther and Mathijs from our team, but quickly evolved into a company all of its own.
Soon after its debut, the fledgling studio released its first app — Pok Pok Playroom. Seeing the world respond to the delights of this digital toy box has been a true pleasure. Pok Pok Playroom is designed to grow alongside its players, so creating new experiences that spark learning through play is a priority that has kept the team plenty busy since launch. Receiving an Apple Design Award nomination last week was a great reason to take a moment of pause and reflect on the hard work that’s brought the team this far.
Seeing that nomination bloom into an award is a huge honour. We were especially touched to hear the heartfelt feedback we received from Apple:
“It is just the definition of a joyful experience. The first time I played with this app I honestly spent over an hour just fiddling with all of the different little sandbox toys and, I know its meant to be designed for children, but it definitely brings out this childlike wonder.
The thing that I really loved about it was that this app came from a mother and father and just wanting to build something that was delightful for their children. It puts a smile on everyone’s faces when they use it and it’s just the clear winner here.”

We feel so lucky to have the history of our creations peppered with these accolades over the years. The honour feels just as great today, with our friends from Pok Pok, as it did back in 2018 when we were privileged enough to see Alto’s Odyssey take home an Apple Design Award alongside our partners at Team Alto, and in 2020 when Where Cards Fall received one in partnership with our friends at The Game Band.
It’s been a long journey since the early days when our co-founders Ryan and Jordan left their jobs and struck out on their own to create productivity apps for the very first iPhone. We’ve released such a diverse range of products since, but the thread that links all our creations together is a strong emphasis on fantastic design and fastidious attention to detail. We are humbled to see these instincts acknowledged in such an exciting way over the years.
Huge congratulations to everyone at team Pok Pok for this amazing honour!
