Following the release of Alto’s Adventure: The Spirit of the Mountain in 2022, players from across the globe have reached out to share how much they’ve enjoyed revisiting the alpine hills that Alto and friends call home. When developing the concept behind Alto’s Adventure: The Spirit of the Mountain, we wanted to create a sound that captures the journey of an all-new character while still being reminiscent of the original game. We then jumped at the opportunity to work alongside our friend and long-time musical collaborator, Todd Baker, who is an expert at conveying the magic of a world through music.

“Having started with the team during Alto’s Odyssey, The Spirit of the Mountain is my first contribution to the world of Alto’s Adventure. It was really nice to go beyond the desert and contribute something to the snowy slopes of the original game.
Harry and I have often spoken about Steve Reich’s minimalist textures as a fitting vibe for Alto–to some degree that is an influence with the Odyssey music but I feel the pulse-like intro to this track is leaning even more into that vibe. Ultimately it’s more of a groove-based jam than the more ‘progressive’ tracks of Odyssey, but it was fun and freeing to conjure a more hypnotic, magical vibe for the special character. I hope fans of the game enjoy being able to take Pitu’s vibe with them everywhere via the soundtrack!”
Todd’s contributions to the Alto games have played such a large role in shaping the calming, immersive experience players love and we look forward to what this collaboration might bring in the future.
