Alto’s Adventure: The Spirit of the Mountain is Now Available on Apple Arcade

We’ve been so eager to share this exciting, remastered edition of the game that started it all. Alto’s Adventure: The Spirit of the Mountain is now available on Apple Arcade and this fresh take on a familiar adventure is sure to present some unexpected challenges and surprises along the way.
Whether this is your first journey with Alto or you’ve been playing for years, we can’t wait to hear what you think of this new version because for us, this is actually how we envisioned the game all along! Building out The Spirit of the Mountain gave Team Alto a chance to revisit some of our original ideas that just couldn’t make the cut in the original.
Land & Sea producer Jair McBain describes the process of how the team chose to integrate these ideas from the past.
“As we had a treasure trove of existing ideas that had been discussed in the years since Alto’s Adventure released, we were able to dig back in and really consider which of these felt right to include in this version of the game.
One such idea was that of the new character, Pitu, who was born from the mind of Snowman Art Director Mathijs Demaeght a few years ago. Mathijs established a series of concepts and the art and development team at Land & Sea were able to bring the character to life, establishing how Pitu moved and functioned in the game world. After this, the team spent time finessing the special abilities unique to Pitu that players will uncover when they eventually unlock the character through exploration of the mountainside!
While we don’t want to give away too much before players have a chance to try the game for themselves, we were also excited to design a series of new ‘Lost Goals’ for players to hunt down and collect. These goals are tailored specifically toward the unique skill set of the Pitu character and will offer both new and existing fans a series of special challenges to test their mettle against.”
Snowman Founder Ryan Cash reflects on the making of The Spirit of the Mountain.
“It’s been a real pleasure to revisit a game that has probably had the single largest impact on my career, and in many ways, my life. Many fond memories of our early years came rushing back and I’m really glad we’ve had the privilege of working on this series for almost 10 years now. It means a lot that Alto has stuck around this long, and in some ways it still feels like just the beginning.”
Alto’s Adventure: The Spirit of the Mountain is available for players with an Apple Arcade subscription and can be played on any iOS, iPadOS or macOS device. Just like Alto’s Odyssey: The Lost City, you will have the option to transfer your progress from the original game and continue your journey from where you left off.
